About this format

How SEPA QR code works

Create a static EPC payment QR for a SEPA credit transfer with recipient, IBAN and optional euro amount.

Static-only format

What the QR code contains

The QR code contains an EPC069-12 payment payload with the recipient name, IBAN, optional BIC, EUR amount and remittance text. Compatible banking apps can use it to prepare a SEPA transfer.

Where it works

Acceptance depends on the payer's bank and app in the SEPA area. Some apps support only parts of the EPC specification, so test with the banks your audience uses.

Limits to check

This is a static payload: changing the IBAN, amount or reference requires a new QR code. IBAN validation detects structural errors but does not prove the account exists or belongs to the named recipient.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What happens after the code is scanned?

The device recognizes the encoded data and offers a suitable action. The exact behavior depends on the camera, operating system and installed apps.

Can I change a static QR code after downloading it?

No. Its data is written into the image. If the content changes, create and test a new QR code.

Is an internet connection required for scanning?

Recognizing the code itself does not require the internet. A connection is needed when the result opens a website, file or another online resource.

How should I prepare a QR code for print?

Keep strong contrast, a clear quiet zone and the correct proportions. Test a sample on several devices at the final print size.
