How to scan a QR code online
- 1
Point the camera or upload a photo
Choose your device camera or an image containing the QR code.
- 2
Wait for recognition
The scanner reads the code and displays the decoded data.
- 3
Check the result
Copy the data or open a link after checking its address.
Two routes to a result you can verify
The camera suits a code on another surface, while file upload fits a photo, an email or a code on the screen of the same device.
Scanning with the camera
- 1Allow camera access for this site only and pick the camera you need if there is more than one.
- 2Fit the whole QR code inside the frame and hold the phone parallel to the surface.
- 3Wait for the result, then close the camera or stop scanning once you no longer need it.
- 4Review the decoded text or domain, and only then copy the data or follow the link.
Decoding from a photo
- 1Switch to file mode and choose a photo or screenshot with the QR code.
- 2Use a sharp image that shows the whole code and the quiet zone around it.
- 3Wait for the result and compare what is shown with the content you expected.
- 4Clear the result before you upload the next file, especially when you work through several codes in a row.
Improve the image first, then try again
- • Use even lighting and remove glare from glossy surfaces.
- • Hold the camera parallel to the code: a steep angle and perspective make decoding harder.
- • Show the whole code without cutting off the corners or the quiet zone.
- • For a file, choose the sharp original rather than a thumbnail that has been forwarded many times.
Codes the scanner can recognize
Camera and file upload support common two-dimensional and linear formats.

How to scan QR codes on different devices
Android
Open the page in a modern browser, allow camera access and point it at the code.
iPhone and iPad
Allow camera access in Safari or select an existing image from your library.
Computer
Use a webcam or choose an image of the QR code from your drive.
What to do when a QR code will not scan
Use even lighting and remove glare from glossy surfaces.
Hold the camera parallel to the code: a steep angle and perspective make decoding harder.
Show the whole code without cutting off the corners or the quiet zone.
For a file, choose the sharp original rather than a thumbnail that has been forwarded many times.
Scan QR codes safely
The scanner decodes the code but does not check whether the site is safe. Always review the address before you open it.
FAQ
About scanning QR codes online
Can I read a QR code from a photo?
Yes. Switch to file upload mode and choose an image where the whole QR code is visible.
Why does the camera not start?
Check the camera permission in your browser and make sure no other app is using the camera. If access is unavailable, upload an image instead.
Why is the QR code not recognized?
The usual causes are blur, glare, a steep angle, a code that is too small or a cropped frame. Try different lighting or upload a sharper image.
Does the scanner check whether a link is safe?
No. The tool decodes the contents of a QR code but does not confirm that the site is trustworthy. Check the domain before you open it and never enter data on unfamiliar pages.
Can I scan a QR code online on Android?
Yes, as long as your browser gives the page access to the camera. The exact behavior depends on the Android version, the browser and the permission settings; if it fails, use a photo of the code.
Does the scanner work on iPhone?
In a compatible browser you can allow the camera or pick an image from your library. If the camera is unavailable, take a photo or screenshot and upload the file.
How do I read a QR code shown on the same phone?
Save the image or take a screenshot, then open the file upload tab. The camera cannot capture a code that is displayed on the very screen it is filming.
Is my photo sent to a server?
In the current scanner, both camera and file decoding are handled by a library directly in the browser. The widget does not send the image to our API.
Need to create a QR code of your own?
Choose a data type, adjust the look and save the finished code.
