About this format

How Apple Maps QR code works

Create an Apple Maps QR code for a street address or exact coordinates, so people can open a clearly labelled place on their phone.

What the QR code contains

For an address, the generator creates a maps.apple.com URL with the address and an optional place label. In Apple Maps, tap the place and read its street address in the place card. For coordinates, drop and save a pin, open it from Pinned, then copy Coordinates.

Where it works

The HTTPS URL opens Apple Maps where it is available. On Android, it opens in a browser rather than the Apple Maps app, so test it with the devices your visitors use.

Limits to check

This generator encodes one destination, not a route with a fixed start and finish. An address can be interpreted differently from a pin; use coordinates for a precise entrance or meeting point.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Should I use an address or coordinates?

Use a complete address for a normal business location. Use latitude and longitude when the entrance, pickup point, or meeting place needs an exact pin.

Does the QR code start navigation?

It opens the destination in Apple Maps. The visitor chooses directions and the starting point, usually their current location, in the map.

What happens after the code is scanned?

The device recognizes the encoded data and offers a suitable action. The exact behavior depends on the camera, operating system and installed apps.

Can I change a static QR code after downloading it?

No. Its data is written into the image. If the content changes, create and test a new QR code.

Is an internet connection required for scanning?

Recognizing the code itself does not require the internet. A connection is needed when the result opens a website, file or another online resource.

How should I prepare a QR code for print?

Keep strong contrast, a clear quiet zone and the correct proportions. Test a sample on several devices at the final print size.
