How to use it
Three steps to a decoded value
- 1
Choose a source
Use the camera for a printed code or upload an image you already have.
- 2
Line up the barcode
Show the whole code, leave quiet zones at the edges and avoid glare.
- 3
Copy the value
Once it is decoded, compare the digits or text with the original image.
Image quality
What helps a code decode
Sharpness
The bars must be distinguishable without blur.
Lighting
Remove glare and deep shadows from the surface.
Framing
Do not crop the edges or the quiet zones of the barcode.
Verification
Check the result before you use it further.
What the scanner does not confirm
A decoded value on its own does not prove authenticity, registration, compliance or a link to a particular product. Use a dedicated system and an official data source to verify it.
FAQ
About scanning barcodes online
Can I read a barcode from a photo?
Yes. Open file mode and choose an image where the barcode is fully visible and sharp enough.
Why does the scanner not see the barcode?
Blur, glare, low contrast, a steep angle and cropped edges all get in the way. Try straightening the camera, improving the lighting or uploading a different image.
Does the scanner show the product name?
No. The tool shows the encoded value and the format. It does not query a product catalog and does not confirm which item the number belongs to.
Can a scan prove that a product is genuine?
No. Decoding a symbol is not a check of origin, registration or authenticity. For that, use the official service named by the manufacturer or the regulator.
Need to create a barcode?
Enter your value, adjust the lines and save the result as PNG or SVG.
